A spectacular array of over 140 motorbikes will take to the TT Mountain Course on the August Bank Holiday Monday as part of the Classic Racer Magazine Classic TT Lap of Honour, featuring a veritable who’s who of motorcycling icons led by 15-time World Champion and 10-time TT race winner, Giacomo Agostini.

TT Mountain Course

Scheduled to take place between the Junior Classic TT and RST Superbike Classic TT Races at 13:00, the Lap of Honour will be headed by Agostini onboard the 350cc MV Agusta ‘Quattro Cilindri’ he raced in 1976, courtesy of Team Obsolete owner Rob Iannucci.

He’ll be joined by other icons of the sport including Carl Fogarty, John McGuinness, Phillip McCallen, Mick Grant, Brian Morrison, Dave Roper, Brian Reid, Trevor Nation and Steve Plater.

Plater, who will front this year’s ITV4 coverage of the Classic TT Races presented by Bennetts alongside Steve Parrish and Amy Williams, will be onboard one of the most important motorcycles in racing history - the Honda RC142. This 6-speed, twin-cylinder, 8 valve 125 machine was the fabled brand’s first foray into World Championship racing which took place at the Isle of Man TT 60 years ago this year. A strong debut performance by the then unfancied manufacturer was enough to win the 1959 Constructor’s Prize and the Honda marque has been at the forefront of motorcycle racing ever since.

The Lap of Honour will see a huge range of machinery spanning over eight decades take to the TT Mountain Course, with pre-war machinery such as a 1937 Scott Racer, Manx Nortons, AJS 7Rs and thunderous Honda 6s from the 50s and 60s, two-stroke racing thoroughbreds from the 70s, 80s and 90s including Kawasaki H1s, Suzuki RG500s, Suzuki TR750s, Yamaha TZ250s, Honda RS250s and a Honda NSR500, plus modern classics such as Honda RC30s, Honda RC45s, Yamaha OW01s, Suzuki GSXRs, Ducati 888s and 998s.

Be sure to grab yourself an excellent vantage point for this audial and visual treat on Monday 26th August.
