STEADPLAN RACING CONFIRMS MCGUINNESS, JOHNSON AND CUMMINS FOR 2026 CLASSIC TT PROGRAMME

Steadplan Racing have assembled a glittering array of riders at this year’s Classic TT races with John McGuinness MBE, David Johnson and Conor Cummins all set to campaign a mixture of classic machinery for the Lancashire-based team.

McGuinness will contest the three-lap Historic Junior race on the venerable Honda CB350 K4, while Cummins will fly the flag for the team in the three-lap Historic Senior race aboard the Honda CB500/4.

Cummins, meanwhile, will also be joined by Australian ace Johnson for the four-lap Formula One Classic TT, where both riders will campaign Kawasaki ZXR750 machinery.

23-time TT winner McGuinness only made his debut in the Historic Junior twelve months ago

For McGuinness, the Historic Junior remains a relatively new addition to his Classic TT story. The 23-time TT winner made his debut in the class twelve months ago and lapped at more than 95mph during qualifying before recording a race lap of 96.769mph in the weather-shortened single-lap contest. His continued involvement adds another dimension to a Mountain Course career that now spans more than three decades. 

Meanwhile, Cummins will ride the same Honda CB500/4 he rode last year, when he too finished in seventh place in the Historic Senior race. With a best lap of 106.382mph, the Manxman will be looking to build upon that and climb further up the leaderboard in 2026.

For Cummins and Johnson, it will be the first time they’ve ridden for the team in the flagship Formula One event, but Ian Hutchinson lapped at 124.762mph in qualifying last year on the Kawasaki ZXR750.

Johnson brings valuable Formula One Classic TT experience, having taken victory on a similar Kawasaki ZXR750 seven years ago before adding podium finishes in both 2022 and 2023. With McGuinness contesting the Historic Junior on the Honda CB350 K4, Cummins returning on the proven Honda CB500/4 in the Historic Senior, and Johnson bringing established pedigree on the Kawasaki ZXR750, the programme gives Steadplan Racing representation across three of the Classic TT’s most evocative categories.
