GERMAN PENZ13.COM TEAM SIGN SHAUN ANDERSON FOR EXPANDED 2026 TT PROGRAMME

German-based squad Penz13.com, who have been competing at the TT since 2009 will increase their presence at the 2026 Isle of Man TT Races with the signing of leading Northern Irishman Shaun Anderson in the 1000cc classes on the Mountain Course.

Hailing from Banbridge, 42-year-old Anderson will campaign the latest specification BMW M1000RR machine in the RST Superbike TT, RL360 Superstock TT and Milwaukee Senior TT races. The move sees Anderson align with one of the most established BMW teams in the TT paddock, as Penz13.com continue their long-standing commitment to the event.

Team owner Rico Penzkofer has been a consistent figure at the TT for over 16 years, initially as a competitor before transitioning into team management. He competed on the Mountain Course between 2009 and 2012, achieving a best result of 12th place in the 2010 Senior TT, where he also recorded a personal best lap of 124.926mph. Following a back injury and subsequent retirement from racing, Penzkofer has built Penz13.com into a respected and internationally recognised TT team.

Loyal to the BMW brand, the team has fielded many leading riders over the years, including Michael Rutter, Steve Mercer, Gary Johnson, Dan Kneen, Jamie Coward, Derek Sheils, Davey Todd and Danny Webb. Alongside established names, Penz13.com have also played a key role in supporting international riders at the TT, with previous entries including Alessandro Polita, Hervé Gantner, Erno Kostamo, David Datzer and Brandon Cretu, who is set to return again in 2026.

Marking a notable shift for Anderson, having been largely associated with Suzuki machinery throughout his TT career. He previously competed with Buildbase/Hawk Racing before joining Team Classic Suzuki in 2023, building a reputation for strong and consistent performances on the Mountain Course.

The Northern Irishman brings significant experience, with 54 TT starts to his name and a member of the 130mph Club. Over the last four years, he has recorded eight top-15 finishes, four of which have been inside the top ten. His standout result came in the 2024 Milwaukee Senior TT, where he secured eighth place and set a personal best lap of 130.703mph, having first broken the 130mph barrier the previous year.

Team Owner, Rico Penzkofer, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Shaun to the team for the 2026 TT. He is a very experienced rider on the Mountain Course and has shown strong, consistent performances in recent years. His approach and understanding make him a very good fit for our team. We believe the BMW will suit him well across the Superbike, Superstock and Senior races, and we are confident we can work together to achieve strong results.”

Shaun Anderson added: “I would like to thank Rico for the opportunity. 2026 will be a big year for me, the start of a new project with a new team and manufacturer. I’m sure the BMW will be a step forward. It has been the machine to be on for the last couple of years. Having just one big bike to concentrate on without the compromise of switching between bikes will make a big difference”

“Rico has been to the TT as both a competitor and a team owner, so he understands the demands, and when you look at the riders he has worked with over the years shows the pedigree. I’m excited for the year ahead, and as always, I would like to thank my family and sponsors for making this all possible.”

The switch to BMW marks a significant opportunity for Anderson, where he’ll ride for one of the most competitive manufacturers at the TT. With his renowned set-up skills, the target will be for further progression in speed and results, edging ever closer to the top six is a real possibility for the partnership.
