SUPERSPORT

The Supersport class was originally the domain of 600cc, four cylinder four-strokes with the Honda CBR600RR and Yamaha YZF-R6 particularly successful. But whilst those machines remain popular choices, the evolution of the class means we’re now seeing the ‘next generation’ of Supersport-spec machines.

Following the trend set in World and British Supersport, that sees the two Supersport TT races now include the 955cc Ducati Panigale V2, Triumph Street Triple 765RS and Suzuki GSXR750 – and for 2026 the Yamaha YZF-R9. Carefully considered, and policed, rules ensure parity between the larger capacity machines and original Supersport bikes that continue to use 600cc engines.

The machines are allowed to be extensively modified compared to the production machines, can produce in excess of 130bhp and require competitors to maintain a high cornering speed throughout.
